Cannes Film Festival Market will be held May 13-22
What is the difference between the
Festival de Cannes and the Cannes Film
Festival Market
(Marché de Film)? The
Festival de Cannes is one of the world’s
major film festivals. It brings together the artistic and commercial dimensions
of cinema by promoting cinematographic and professional exchanges. The
Marché du
Film takes place in parallel to the Festival and is the most important meeting
of professionals of the film industry from all over the world where they buy and
sell film rights, find co-producers and network.
The Marché du Film favors exchanges and also gives great visibility to
participants present through a slate of services offering meetings, exhibition
spaces and screenings. Last year, around 4,000 films and projects were
presented; there were 1,500 screenings of a 1,000 of these films, of which 75%
were premieres.
Major international companies set up their headquarters in the hotels, while
smaller companies, national delegations and promotional and service
organizations tend to use the structures provided by the Cannes Marché du Film.
Up to 2,000 participants, representing buyers and sellers, usually attend this
market. It’s here that meetings, negotiations and deals take place.
